TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- Ashley Whisonant scored 13 of her 17 points
in the second half as Arizona rallied to beat Washington State
61-52 Thursday night.
Whisonant had eight points in a 9-0 run to give the Wildcats a
53-45 lead with 4:15 left.
Arizona (5-6, 1-1 Pac-10) also got 18 points from Joy
Hollingsworth and 12 points by Natalie Jones en route to ending a
four-game losing streak.
Kate Benz, Keisha Moore and Amanda DuRocher scored 11 points
each for Washington State (6-5, 0-3), Benz adding 11 rebounds and
Whisonant gave the Wildcats a 46-45 lead after a steal and layup
with 5:46 remaining. She also added two free throws, another layup
and a basket after another steal.
Arizona took a 22-21 lead at halftime after Hollingsworth scored
eight straight points in the final three minutes. But the Cougars
took a 43-40 lead on two free throws by Benz with 7:36 left.
