Minnesota 69, Northwestern 54

EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) -- Shannon Schonrock scored 15 points and Liz
Podominick added 13 to lead No. 15 Minnesota to a 69-54 victory
over the Northwestern in the Big Ten opener for both teams Thursday

Minnesota (8-2) charged to a 38-27 lead by the break and
maintained a comfortable advantage in the second half.

Northwestern (4-7) led 19-15 with 12:30 left in the first half,
but the Golden Gophers moved in front and steadily pulled away,
increasing their lead to 20 points at 60-40 with 5:03 left.

Kelly Roysland added 10 points for Minnesota.

A.J. Glasauer scored 16 points for the Wildcats. Nadia Bibbs
added 11 and Ifeoma Okonkwo finished with 10.
