Three-pointers give Utes big win over Thunderbirds

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Julie Larsen was 5-of-6 from 3-point range and scored 18 points to lead Utah (No. 22 ESPN/USA Today) to a 79-47 victory over Southern Utah on Friday night.

Shona Thorburn had 10 points, 10 assists and five rebounds for the Utes (9-2), while Kim Smith added 12 points, seven rebounds, six steals and five assists.

Cassie Hahl was 4-for-6 on 3s and had 17 points and seven rebounds for the Thunderbirds (7-5), while Julie Stradling added 10 points.

Utah opened the second half with a 16-4 run that included four 3-pointers and gave the Utes a 53-26 lead.

The lead grew to lead to 31 points by the 10-minute mark and the Utes led by at least 28 points the rest of the way.

Utah, which led 37-21 at halftime, shot 44 percent from the 3-point range (12-of-27).
