Smith's double-double leads DePaul past Pittsburgh

CHICAGO (AP) -- Khara Smith had 29 points and 14 rebounds to lead DePaul (No. 11 ESPN/USA Today, No. 13 AP) to an 81-75 win over Pittsburgh on Tuesday night.

Allie Quigley finished with 26 points and five assists for the Blue Demons (14-1, 1-1 Big East Conference), who have won seven straight games. Jenna Rubino added nine points and seven rebounds.

Maddy Brown had 18 points for Pittsburgh (10-3, 1-1), including 4-of-8 from 3-point range. Mercedes Walker finished with 18 points and eight rebounds.

Pittsburgh controlled the first half, leading by as much as seven. DePaul made a late 13-4 run to take a three-point lead before Mallorie Winn hit a 3 to tie it at 47 at halftime.

The Panthers put together a 7-0 run to take a 61-54 lead in the second half but couldn't hold on.

DePaul went on a 15-2 run to erase the Pittsburgh lead. Quigley hit two free throws after Panthers coach Agnus Berenato was whistled for a technical foul to make it 69-63 Blue Demons.
