Humphrey's 29 leads No. 18 Georgia past Mississippi

OXFORD, Miss. (AP) -- Tasha Humphrey had 29 points and Megan Darrah added 18 to lead Georgia (No. 18 ESPN/USA Today; No. 17 AP) to an 84-70 victory over Mississippi on Thursday night.

Sherill Baker and Cori Chambers had 12 points apiece for the Bulldogs (10-3, 1-0 Southeastern Conference), who shot 47 percent and hit 12 3-pointers.

Mississippi cut it to 55-52 with 13:25 left on a free throw by Shawn Goff, but Georgia countered with a 15-2 run during the next 3 minutes to push its lead into double digits for good.

A 3-pointer by Chambers with 4:24 left in the first half put Georgia ahead to stay, giving the Bulldogs a 29-28 lead.

Danetra Forest had 12 points and Ashley Awkward and Carla Bartee each had 11 for the Rebels (10-4, 0-1), who have lost three of four.

Ole Miss was seeking its third home victory over a ranked opponent this season and its third straight victory over Georgia in Oxford. Earlier this season, the Rebels beat ranked Texas Tech and Rutgers at home.

Georgia won at Tad Smith Coliseum for the first time since January 2002.

Ole Miss leading scorer Armintie Price was held to eight points, more than 10 fewer than her average.
