    Freshman Harmon nearly perfect in No. 16 Stanford's win

    CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) -- Devanei Hampton had 21 points and three rebounds to help California to a 71-50 win against Oregon State at Gill Coliseum on Saturday afternoon.

    Ashley Walker added 14 points and 15 rebounds for the Golden Bears, who improved to 12-4 overall and 4-2 in the Pacific-10 Conference.

    Kim Butler and Karen Vickery scored 16 and 14 points, respectively, for Oregon State (6-6, 0-4).

    Hampton, a freshman post, scored the last four points of an 11-2 Cal run that gave the Golden Bears a 48-30 lead with 14:35 remaining in the game. Oregon State got no closer the rest of the way.

    Cal, which started four freshmen, used an 11-0 run to break open a close game in the first half.But Oregon State scored 11 of the final 13 points of the half to cut the Golden Bears' lead to 33-23 at halftime.

    Walker, a freshman post, secured her third straight double-double and third of the season by halftime with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

    California bettered its win total from last season with the victory. Oregon State has tied its win total from last season.

    Oregon State, which lost its fifth straight game, had its lowest scoring game of the season.

    California was coming off its lowest scoring output of the season in a 70-41 loss at Oregon on Thursday. The Golden Bears have won eight of their last 10.
