PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Lady Comfort had a career-high 18 points and
13 rebounds to lead Temple to its 23rd straight Atlantic 10
Conference victory, 77-69 Friday over Charlotte.
Kamesha Hairston had 18 points and Jennifer Owens 17 for the
24th-ranked Owls (9-3, 1-0).Sakellie Daniels led Charlotte (8-5, 1-1) with 20 points. Andrea
Davidson added 13, Pam Brown 11 and Whitney Hoey 10.Khadija Bowens had 10 points for Temple, which hadn't played
since a 75-50 loss to top-ranked Tennessee on Dec. 28. The Owls
shot 62 percent and outrebounded the 49ers 40-21.Temple led 40-32 at halftime and extended its advantage to 20
points on two free throws by Comfort with 8:42 remaining. But the
49ers responded with a 12-0 run to cut the lead to 68-60 on a pair
of free throws by Daniels.Two free throws by Comfort and a basket by Bowens pushed the
Owls' lead to 72-60.
