TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) -- Marverly Nettles scored 15 points to
lead Alabama to a 75-73 win over Arkansas Sunday.
Arkansas' Kristin Peoples' deep 3-point attempt failed to close
the gap in the final seconds of the game.
Alabama (8-8, 2-1 in the Southeastern Conference) led 46-34 at
the half. Arkansas slipped to 11-6 and 3-1 in the SEC.
Besides Nettles, Alabama had five other players in double
figures: Harriet Barnes had 14; Dee Merriweather and Lauren Hill
scored 11 apiece; and Kate Mastin and Navonda Moore had 10 apiece.
Dominique Washington led Arkansas with 19. Peoples had 12 and
Rochelle Vaughn had 10.
Nettles scored 15 after averaging 16.0 per outing in her
previous two games in conference action. It was her ninth game in
double figures this season and the 37th in her career.
