Atunrase scores 29 as Aggies get past Jayhawks in Lawrence

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) -- Morenike Atunrase scored a career-high 29 points and Takia Sparks added 15 to help Texas A&M defeat Kansas 78-64 Sunday, the Jayhawks' first home loss of the season.

The loss was the third in a row for Kansas (12-3), which had recorded 12 straight victories at home before losing two road games.

Atunrase was 9-for-15 from the field including five 3-pointers. She hit a 3-pointer at the end of the first half to cap an 8-0 run that put Texas A&M (14-3) ahead 37-29 at the break.

Crystal Kemp led Kansas with 27 points, but she missed two free throws at a crucial time. With just under four minutes left in the game and Kansas down by seven, the Texas A&M bench was called for a technical foul, but Kemp missed both free throws.

Kaylee Brown added 20 points for Kansas.

The win was the 12th in the last 13 games for the Aggies, who now lead the Big 12 Conference.
