BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) -- Lyndra Littles had 19 points and 12
rebounds to lead Virginia to a 78-59 victory over Virginia Tech (No. 23 ESPN/USA Today, No. 18 AP) on Monday night.
The Cavaliers (13-3, 1-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) turned 22
Virginia Tech turnovers into 27 points and shot 51.6 percent to the
Hokies' 40.4 percent.
Littles scored seven straight before Sharnee Zoll's jumper gave
Virginia its biggest lead of the half, 39-24 with 6 seconds left.
Kirby Copeland's layup brought the Hokies (14-2, 1-2) within 12
points, but Tech could get no closer. Virginia extended its lead to
28 points on Brenna McGuire's 3-pointer with 4½ minutes left.
The Cavaliers were 5-of-8 from 3-point range.
Reserve Takisha Granberry had 16 points for Virginia and Zoll
Chriss Dawn led Virginia Tech with 16 points and Kerri Gardin
Virginia coach Debbie Ryan improved her record against Virginia
Tech to 27-6.
