Lobos turn up the D and shut down Falcons

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (AP) -- Dionne Marsh scored 21 points to lead New Mexico (No. 18 ESPN/USA Today, No. 20 AP) to a 59-54 win over Air Force on Saturday.

Marsh was 11-for-15 from the free-throw line. Brandi Kimble
added 11 points for the Lobos (14-4, 4-1 Mountain West Conference).

The Falcons (10-7, 1-5) led 45-39 in the second half after a
3-pointer from Letricia Castillo, but the Lobos took advantage of
their free throw chances. New Mexico outscored the Falcons 12-2
over the final 3:52, with 10 of those points coming from the foul

Air Force went 3-of-4 from the line for the entire game.

New Mexico led 28-21 in the final minutes of the first half
before Air Force went on a 9-2 run, capped by Dawn Higginbotham's
basket off a steal, to tie the game at 30 at halftime.

Alecia Steele and Higginbotham led Air Force with 12 points
