AMHERST, Mass. (AP) -- Kate Mills had 13 points, including the
winning free throws with 10 seconds left, to lift Massachusetts to
a 55-53 upset over No. 25 George Washington on Sunday.
UMass (5-13, 2-5 Atlantic 10) overcame a six-point deficit in
the final 4 minutes for its first win against a ranked team since
it beat No. 22 Stanford on Dec. 12, 1999.Pam Rosanio had a game-high 17 points for UMass, while Mills
added 11 rebounds.Kimberly Beck led the Colonials (12-5, 5-1) with 14 points. Her
3-pointer tied the game at 53 with 42 seconds left.Mills went to the line after she pulled down an offensive
rebound and was fouled. Beck missed a running jumper from just
inside the 3-point line.The Colonials used an 8-0 run to end the first half with a 25-19
lead. UMass began the second half on a 13-4 run to take a 32-29
lead with 15:54 left.UMass outrebounded the Colonials 43-28.
