HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) -- Ashley Boehnel had 20 points to lead
Southern Miss in a 67-63 victory over Marshall on Sunday.
Ashley Harrel and Kendra Reed had 13 points each and Amber
Eugene contributed 12 for the Lady Eagles (8-10, 5-2 Conference
USA).
"This is a huge win," Southern Miss Head Coach Joye
Lee-McNelis said. "To beat the No. 1 team in Conference USA makes
a statement for us. I'm proud of our fight and how far we've
come."
Sikeet Shepard-Hallhad 15 points to lead Marshall (10-6, 5-1
USA). Modupe Ishola had 14 points, and Bridget Chacon and KaShawna
Curry had 10 apiece for the Herd women.
The Lady Eagles out-shot Marshall 44.9 percent to 34.8 percent.
