Cougars win 9th straight, hand Rams 6th loss in a row

PROVO, Utah (AP) -- Dani Kubik scored 15 points and Ambrosia Anderson added 14 to lead No. 20 Brigham Young over Colorado State 70-54 Saturday.

The Cougars (17-1, 7-0 Mountain West), who led by as many as 27 points midway through the second half, won their ninth straight game.

The Rams (7-11, 1-6) lost their sixth straight and never seriously threatened after a 16-0 run for BYU in the first half.

Anderson, the Cougars' leading scorer at 19.7 points per game, struggled with her shot all day. She didn't hit her first basket until midway through the first half and finished just 6-for-25 from the floor.

BYU held Melissa Dennett to six points -- nearly 10 below her average.

Sara Hunter led Colorado State with 15 points and Casie Shepherd added 12 for the Rams.

BYU held a 16-12 lead with 10:27 remaining in the first half when BYU's Nancy Seljaas hit a jumper, followed by a 3-pointer that Kubik banked in. Over the next four minutes, the Cougars outscored the Rams 16-0 as Kubik scored seven points.
