PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- Freshman guard Kelsey Kahle scored 17
points and grabbed 10 rebounds Saturday afternoon to lead Portland
State to a 75-73 victory over Montana State.
Kahle's steal and a layup with 2:38 remaining provided the final
margin. Neither team scored the rest of the way as Portland State
(8-10, 2-3 Big Sky) snapped an eight-game losing streak to the
Bobcats (2-15, 1-4).Scotta Morton tried a 3-pointer at the buzzer for Montana State,
but it fell short.Portland State led 45-35 with 17:42 remaining on a basket by
Sharon Wahinekapu before the Bobcats went on a 26-15 run over the
next nine minutes to take a 61-60 lead on a pair of free throws by
Amanda DeHaan with eight minutes left. The Bobcats increased their
lead to 69-63 on a 3-pointer by Alyssa Nelson with 5:40 remaining.The Vikings closed the game with a 12-4 run.Nelson scored a career high 29 points for Montana State on
11-of-18 shooting. Morton added 13 points and Jenny Heringer 10
points and six assists.Jenni Ritter finished with 15 points and six assists for PSU
while Brianna Thompson had 11 points and seven rebounds.Portland State led 36-28 at halftime.
