NEW YORK (AP) -- Krystal Ellis scored 24 points to lead five double-figure scorers as Marquette upset St. John's (No. 24 ESPN/USA Today, No. 23 AP) 74-59 on Wednesday night.
Jasmine McCullough had 11 points and Kristina Quaye, Carolina Kieger and Svetlana Kovalenko added 10 apiece for the Golden Eagles (16-6, 7-4 Big East), who held a 29-19 halftime lead en route to sweeping the two-game season series.
Kia Wright scored 26 points to lead the Red Storm (18-5, 8-4). Angela Clark, who had eight points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
Tara Walker's 3-pointer with 16:11 left in the first half closed out a game-opening 10-6 run for St. John's. Marquette then shut down the Red Storm, holding them to four points over the next 11:20 to take a 23-14 lead with 4:51 remaining in the period. McCullough capped the 17-4 run with a jumper.
Walker's three baskets led an 18-8 run that opened the second half and got St. John's even at 37-all with 13:23 left. Wright's jumper capped the rally.
The Golden Eagles then outscored the Red Storm 17-11, capped by a pair of free throws by Ellis, to take a 54-48 lead with 7:51 remaining.
After Clark scored for St. John's, Marquette used a 14-4 rally -- led by Kieger with seven points, five from the foul line -- to put the game out of reach, 68-54, with 1:32 remaining.
