Anderson's tiebreaking 3 propels BYU past UNLV

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Ambrosia Anderson's tiebreaking 3-pointer with
23 seconds left sent No. 18 Brigham Young to a 55-51 victory over
UNLV on Saturday night.

Anderson, the Cougars' leading scorer, scored 12 of her 15
points in the second half. Her 3-pointer snapped a 51-all tie.

She connected on a 3-pointer to open the scoring for the Cougars
(20-2, 10-1 Mountain West Conference), but didn't score again until
midway through the second half.

Kameca Simmons had only two points during the first half for the
Lady Rebels (13-8, 5-5), but scored UNLV's final seven points and
11 of the last 17. Sheena Moore scored the remaining six points.

The final score was the largest lead either team had during the
second half. The Cougars went up by four on Melinda Johnsen's free
throw with 9 seconds left.

Dani Kubik led the Cougars with 16 points and Mallary Gillespie
had 14.

Moore and Simmons each had 13 points for the Lady Rebels and
Sequoia Holmes had 12.
