LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) -- LaToya Davis scored 22 points on 9-of-10
shooting and was one of four Lady Raiders in double figures as
Texas Tech beat Colorado 76-56 Saturday night.
Jackie McFarland had 22 for Colorado and was the only Buffalo in
Erin Grant and Alesha Robertson each had 16 for Tech (12-10, 7-4
Big 12), which has won nine straight at home. Erin Myrick was one
rebound shy of a double-double with nine rebounds and 12 points.
The Lady Raiders were coming off back-to-back season-low point
outputs, getting 48 in each of the last two games. But in this
game, Tech exceeded its 65.6 points per game average.
Tech led Colorado (7-17, 2-10) in rebounds, 35-25, and in
shooting percentage, 50 percent to 39 percent.
The Buffaloes used a 7-0 run midway through the second half to
cut Tech's lead to 55-43, but wouldn't get any closer the rest of
Tech closed out the first half on a 16-2 run that was sparked by
Darrice Griffin, who blocked two shots on defense and then scored
on the ensuing fast break. Griffin also hit a buzzer-beater to push
Tech's lead to 34-20 at halftime.
Tech has won 10 of its last 11 against Colorado.
