Falcons flex defensive muscle in drubbing Zips

AKRON, Ohio (Ticker) -- Carin Horne scored 20 points and was
part of a dominant defensive effort as No. 25 Bowling Green
rolled to an 80-48 victory over Akron in a Mid-American
Conference game.

Horne was 8-of-13 from the floor, made 2-of-4 3-pointers and
collected three of the Falcons' 15 steals. Liz Honegger chipped
in 13 points, three steals and two blocked shots.

Bowling Green (21-2, 12-0 MAC) limited Akron (4-19, 1-11) to
just five baskets in the first half to claim a 35-17 lead. It
pulled away behind a 16-of-26 (62 percent) from the floor after
the break, including 6-of-11 from the arc.

Amber Flynn scored 14 points off the bench on 5-of-5 shooting
for the Falcons, who scored 26 points off 27 turnovers.

Niki McCoy was the only Zip to reach double figures with 13
points.
