SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- Whitney Connolly scored a career high
28 points on 12-of-17 shooting Saturday to lead Montana State to an
86-80 overtime victory over Sacramento State.
The win snapped Montana State's 10-game losing streak.The Bobcats (3-19, 2-8 Big Sky) trailed 47-35 with 15:40
remaining before going on a 16-4 run to tie the score at 51 with
11:00 remaining on a layup by Connolly.Montana State took its largest lead at 67-60 on two free throws
by Jenny Heringer with 5:31 remaining, but Sacramento State (8-15,
3-8) answered with a 12-4 run to take a 72-71 lead on a layup by
Lindsay Calmettes with 2:04 to play.Connolly hit a 3-pointer with 29 seconds left in regulation to
send the game into over time tied at 75.Montana State's Alyssa Nelson opened overtime with a pair of
free throws and the Bobcats would not relinquish the lead.A 3-pointer by Connolly with 53 seconds left put MSU up 83-80.
MSU made 3-of-4 free throws in the final 36 seconds.Heringer finished with 15 points and four assists, Nelson added
13 points and seven rebounds, Nubia Garcia had 11 points and seven
rebounds and Scotta Morton had 10 points and eight rebounds.Ashley Cadotte led Sac State with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Kim
Sheehy had 14 points and Stephanie Cherry fouled out with 10.
Lindsey heard had 15 rebounds as Sac State outrebounded MSU 55-37.The Hornets shot 33 3-pointers and made just six.
