CHICAGO (AP) -- Khara Smith had 13 points, including the
game-winning shot, to lead DePaul (No. 15 ESPN/USA Today, No. 16 AP) past St. John's 70-67
Allie Quigley had 12 points and seven asissts and Smith added
six rebounds, five assists and four steals for DePaul (22-5, 9-5
Kia Wright had 16 points and six assists to lead St. John's
(19-6, 9-5). Angela Clark added 14 points and eight rebounds.
After Clark's layup tied the score at 67-all, Smith hit a 6-foot
jumper with 13.6 seconds remaining to give DePaul their fourth
DePaul went on a 10-0 run in the second half, capped by
back-to-back 3's by Caprice Smith, to take a 45-32 lead. St. John's
came back with a 15-3 run to tie the game at 48-all with 9:20
St. John's scored seven straight points to take a 63-61 lead
with 3:48 remaining in the game.
Trailing 11-17 midway through the first half, DePaul went on a
15-6 run to take a 26-23 lead with 7:50 remaining in the period.
