CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) -- Lisa Willis had 24 points and eight
rebounds to lead UCLA to a 72-59 win over Oregon State at Gill
Coliseum on Thursday.
Noelle Quinn added 17 points, 14 rebounds and four assists for
the Bruins (16-10, 11-6 Pacific-10 Conference).
Oregon State's Kim Butler tied a career-high with 31 points for
the Beavers (12-13, 6-11). Anita Rivera added 14 points.
Quinn and Willis combined for 20 of UCLA's first 28 points and
the Bruins led 32-27 at halftime. UCLA opened the second half with
a 10-2 run, which Willis started with her fourth and final
3-pointer of the game.
Oregon State answered with an 8-2 run to get within 44-37 with
14:10 left. But the Beavers would get no closer as they shot 32
percent in second half and got just four points from their bench on
UCLA, which outrebounded Oregon State 48-35, expanded its lead
to as many as 17 points in the second half.
Willis scored 32 the first time the teams met, a 79-64 UCLA win
Dec. 22 in Los Angeles. UCLA senior guard Nikki Blue, sixth on the
Bruins' all-time scoring list and averaging 13 points per game this
season, was held scoreless.
