ATHENS, Ga. (AP) -- Tasha Humphrey scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Georgia (No. 12 ESPN/USA Today, No. 13 AP) to a 74-61 win Sunday over Auburn in the regular-season finale for both teams.
Sherill Baker also scored 22 for the Bulldogs (20-7, 10-4 Southeastern Conference), who posted their 22nd 20-win season under coach Andy Landers.Georgia made 11 3-pointers, two shy of the school record.Freshman center KeKe Carrier scored 26 points and had nine rebounds to lead the Tigers (13-14, 4-10), who have lost six of seven games in February.Georgia took an early 20-10 lead on a rare 3-pointer by Baker, while Auburn turned the ball over eight times in the first eight minutes.Megan Darrah and Humphrey sandwiched 3s around a breakaway layup by Baker to push the lead to 33-17 with 8:09 to play. Marita Payne scored a pair of baskets down low, and Whitney Boddie scored in the lane as Auburn narrowed the gap to 38-27 with 4:26 left in the half.Georgia hit eight 3-point shots in the first half en route to a 45-30 halftime lead.Auburn worked the ball inside in the second half. In a 14-3 run, Carrier scored 11 points in five minutes to close to 52-48 with 11:12 left.But Georgia used a 10-2 surge to stretch the lead to 62-50 with 8:38 remaining.
