Dupree powers No. 17 Temple past Rhose Island

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) -- Candice Dupree scored 27 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as No. 17 Temple closed out the regular season with a 91-79 win over Rhode Island on Sunday.

It was the most points the Owls had scored in 12 years when they beat West Virginia 91-89 in overtime.

Tanya Rhodes and Safi Mojidi each scored 20 points for Rhode Island (8-19, 5-11). Rhodes also had 10 rebounds.

Temple (21-7, 12-4 Atlantic 10) shot 56 percent from the field in the first half and used a 14-4 run late to take a 43-30 halftime lead.

Dupree, who was 11-of-17 from the floor, scored 16 points and had 11 rebounds in the first half and then scored her team's first six points of the second half as Temple took a 49-33 lead.

The grew to 70-43 with 11:21 left.

Kamesha Hairston scored 18 points and Khadija Bowens had 11 for the Owls.
