LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) -- Janevia Taylor scored five straight
points in overtime, giving Hawaii the lead for good, as the Rainbow
Wahine defeated New Mexico State 74-71 Thursday night.
Taylor's 3-pointer at the 1:56 mark gave Hawaii its first lead
in overtime, 68-66, and her jumper on UH's next possession extended
the lead to four.The Rainbow Wahine, 18-8 overall and 9-6 in the Western Athletic
Conference, finished their scoring by going 4-of-6 from the free
throw line.The Aggies (8-19, 5-11) tied the score at 63-63 with 2:26
remaining in regulation and neither team could score before the
buzzer sounded.Amy Sanders led Hawaii with 21 points. Taylor ended with 16
points, while Tanya Smith came up big with 14 points and 18
rebounds. Jenean Ford led New Mexico State with 24 points and 15
rebounds.The Rainbow Wahine conclude their regular season schedule
Saturday at No. 19 Louisiana Tech.
