Wisdom-Hylton keys Purdue's victory over Hartford

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) -- Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton scored 18
points and grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds as No. 11 Purdue beat
Hartford 83-51 Sunday in the quarterfinals of the Preseason WNIT.

Wisdom-Hylton, a junior forward, also had five assists, three
blocks and two steals. Jodi Howell scored a career-high 16 points,
Erin Lawless scored 15 points and FahKara Malone had 15 points and

Jamie McCabe led Hartford with 15 points.

The Boilermakers (2-0) will host North Carolina State in a
semifinal Wednesday.

Hartford (1-1) reached the second round of the NCAA tournament
last season under former Connecticut star Jennifer Rizzotti, and
the Hawks looked like that caliber of team for the first 15
minutes. Purdue led 20-17 late in the first half before Malone, a
freshman point guard, scored eight points in a 14-0 run that gave
Purdue a 34-17 halftime lead.

Wisdom-Hylton had six points, nine rebounds and three blocks at
halftime. Purdue forced 10 turnovers and held Hartford to 27
percent shooting before the break.

The Boilermakers scored the first four points of the second half
before the Hawks finally stopped the run. Purdue extended its lead
to as many as 35 points.

It was Purdue's second-straight dominant defensive effort. The
Boilermakers held Hartford to 34 percent shooting after holding
Belmont to 23 percent shooting in a season-opening 67-43 win on
Thursday night.
