No. 15 Vandy stays unbeaten, turns back Dartmouth

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Carla Thomas scored 21 points to lead No. 15 Vanderbilt to a 79-49 victory over Dartmouth on Saturday.

Thomas scored 14 points in the first half to help the Commodores (3-0) build a 14-point lead. Vanderbilt took its biggest lead of the half when Jessica Mooney hit a 3-pointer to beat the halftime buzzer, giving the Commodores a 41-27 advantage.

A 15-0 run keyed Vanderbilt's surge in the first half. Jennifer Risper scored nine points in the run.

The Commodores opened the second half with a 12-1 run to take a 53-28 lead and put the game away. The Big Green (1-1) got no closer than 20 points the rest of the game.

Eleven players scored for Vanderbilt, which shot 50.9 percent from the field. Meredith Marsh and Jennifer Risper each scored eight points.

Ashley Taylor and Koren Schram each scored 11 points to lead Dartmouth, which shot only 35.9 percent and committed 24 turnovers.
