USC 69, Notre Dame 58

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Shay Murphy scored 15 points and had 17
rebounds to lead the USC women Friday to a 69-58 victory over Notre

The Trojans' (2-2) win snapped a seven-game losing streak to the
Irish and marked the first time USC has beaten Notre Dame since
January 1985.

Murphy, USC's leading scorer who is averaging 21 points, made
only five of 13 shots and was held to two points in the first-half.
She extended her consecutive-game streak of scoring double digits
to 28 games.

Jamie Hagiya, Hailey Dunham and Chloe Kerr each scored 12 points
for the Trojans, and USC out-rebounded Notre Dame 54-37.

Charel Allen led the Irish with 13 points and had eight
rebounds. Erica Williamson added 12 points and nine rebounds for
Notre Dame.

The Irish made only one of 12 3-pointers for the game and turned
the ball over 19 times. The Trojans committed 27 turnovers.

Murphy's jumper at the buzzer gave USC a 30-24 lead at halftime.
She had seven rebounds in the opening half. Hagiya made
three-of-five 3-pointers and scored nine points in the first half.

Both teams shot poorly in the opening 20 minutes. The Trojans
shot 12-for-38 (31.6 percent) while the Irish made only nine of 31
shots (29 percent).

Murphy, who eclipsed the 1,000-point mark last week against Ohio
State, became the 20th woman in USC history to surpass the
1,000-point mark.
