EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- Allyssa DeHaan scored a career-high 28 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked five shots to help Michigan State (No. 18 ESPN/USA Today, No. 20 AP) beat Rhode Island 67-40 on Wednesday.
DeHaan, a 6-foot-9 freshman, was 11-for-14 from the field with an 8-inch height advantage. She hit her first six shots in a 14-point first half for the Spartans (5-1).
Aisha Jefferson had nine points and five assists for Michigan State, which rallied from a 17-15 deficit to lead 36-20 at halftime. Backup center Laura Hall sparked the rally with five straight points.
Safi Mojidi had 12 points to pace the Rams (1-6). Rhode Island shot just 28.3 percent from the field and was outrebounded 52-21.
The Spartans' Katrina Grantham didn't score on her only shot but led all rebounders with 11. Michigan State shot 49.1 percent but committed 25 turnovers.
