CHICAGO (AP) -- Allie Quigley had a career-high 37 points in leading DePaul (No. 20 ESPN/USA Today, No. 18 AP) past Rutgers (No. 21 ESPN/USA Today, No. 19 AP) 87-73 Thursday night.
Quigley, who passed her previous best of 26 on an acrobatic jumper midway through the second half, knocked down seven 3-pointers and finished 11-for-20.
Caprice Smith had 20 points and 16 rebounds for DePaul (6-1, 1-0 Big East), which won its sixth in a row. Erin Carney added 12 points and 9 rebounds for the Blue Demons.
Rutgers (2-4, 0-1), coming off an 85-45 loss to No. 4 Duke on Monday, had five players in double figures, led by freshman Epiphanny Prince with 19. Kia Vaughn added 14 points and 15 rebounds for the Scarlet Knights. Brittany Ray and Matee Ajavon each had 12, while Essence Carson added 10.
Quigley scored seven points during DePaul's 9-0 run late in the game, giving the Blue Demons a commanding 81-67 lead with 2:15 to go.
Up 47-42, DePaul had scored seven straight as part of a 12-2 run to give the Blue Demons a 59-45 lead with 16:04 left in the game. A 7-2 run by the Scarlet Knights cut DePaul's lead to 70-66 with 8:19 remaining.
DePaul went on a 16-4 run early in the first half -- Quigley scoring eight in that span -- to take a 24-13 lead. Prince responded with five straight points as the Scarlet Knights went on a 15-5 run to take a 30-29 advantage with 5:59 left.
Both teams were firing from the outside, combining to hit 14-of-30 3-pointer in the first half and 24-of-57 overall.
