Montana State 77, Montana-Western 71

BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) -- Erica Perry scored five consecutive points to break a 68-all tie with just over two minutes to play Thursday, helping Montana State to a 77-71 win over Montana-Western.

It was the first time since late February 2005 that the MSU women's basketball team has posted back-to-back wins. The game was an exhibition for Montana Western (14-0), ranked No. 4 in the NAIA.

Montana State (5-4) built its largest lead at 61-48 with 7:49 left on a 3-pointer by Alyssa Nelson. However, the Bulldogs used a 20-7 run to tie the score.

Perry, a freshman, hit a 3-pointer from the left wing and then a pair of free throws with 1:30 left to give the Bobcats a cushion.

Rebecca Mercer led the Bobcats with 18 points, while Perry added 15 and Whitney Connolly 11.

Nubia Garcia and Krislyn Wallace each had 11 rebounds for MSU, which held a 48-38 rebounding advantage.

Becky O'Neil led Western with 27 points and 11 rebounds, while Katherine Sunwall had 12 points and 13 rebounds.
