Four score in double figures for George Washington in win

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Kenan Cole scored 15 points and No. 20 George Washington held off a late Auburn rally for a 62-51 victory Saturday afternoon.

Sarah-Jo Lawrence added 14 points and Kimberly Beck had 12 points for the Colonials (9-2). Whitney Allen had a game-high 12 rebounds to go with six points.

DeWanna Bonner recorded her fourth double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds for Auburn (9-3), which saw its six-game winning streak end. Trevesha Jackson added 11 points.

Trailing early in the second half, the Tigers, led by Jackson's eight points during a 21-7 spurt, pulled to 45-44 with 9:03 remaining. Auburn, however, could never get even. Three times in the final five minutes the Tigers had a chance to tie or take the lead but failed.

George Washington jumped to a 22-5 lead. The Tigers, meanwhile, struggled to find an offensive rhythm as they hit just one of 13 field goal attempts over the first nine minutes.

A 12-2 run by Auburn midway through the first half cut the margin to 24-17. George Washington, however, countered with an 11-2 run and took a 36-23 halftime lead.
