NORTHRIDGE, Calif. (AP) -- Sophomore Mandy Morales finished with 25 points and a career-high 13 assists and nine rebounds as Montana defeated Cal State-Northridge 87-73, the sixth consecutive basketball victory for the Lady Griz.

The game Sunday improved Montana's record to 9-1. The Matadors dropped to 3-8.

The Lady Griz led 18-17 with 8:47 remaining in the first half and went to the locker room with a halftime lead of 44-27. They had a 20-point edge in the second half, then saw that margin dwindle as Northridge scored 11 straight points.

Two free throws by Morales pushed Montana's lead to 53-42, but the Matadors surged and put the score at 59-55 on a 3-pointer by Ofa Tulikihihifo with 9:29 remaining in the game.

Montana bolstered its lead and Northridge again cut it to 4 points, this time with 2:51 remaining. Montana junior Dana Conway scored inside off an assist from Morales and with 1:50 left to play, sophomore Sonya Rogers hit a 3-pointer, making the score 78-69.

Northridge did not get closer than 7 points in the rest of the game.
