COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) -- Danielle Gant had 14 points and 11
rebounds and Texas A&M (No. 19 ESPN/USA Today, No. 18 AP) overcame poor shooting for a 70-52
victory over North Texas on Monday night.
The Aggies (7-2) shot 27 percent in the first half, but carried
a 29-23 lead into halftime. They improved to 50 percent shooting in
the second half and pushed their lead to 27 points with 4:41
remaining.Takia Starks scored 20 points to lead four Aggies in double
figures. Patrice Reado scored 12, and La Toya Micheaux had 10.
Micheaux also had nine rebounds.Sanetra Jackson led North Texas (3-7) with 24 points, including
6-of-6 free throw shooting. Amber Jackson scored 10. The Mean Green
shot 41 percent from the field.Micheaux contributed five steals for Texas A&M, which scored 36
points off turnovers to only 15 for North Texas.
