DePaul routs Loyola of Chicago in San Juan Shootout

GUAYNABO, Puerto Rico (AP) -- Caprice Smith scored 19 points and Allie Quigley added 13 with seven assists to lead No. 17 DePaul past Loyola of Chicago 97-70 Wednesday in the San Juan Shootout.

Smith added seven rebounds for DePaul, which dominated from the start for its 10th straight victory.

The Blue Demons (10-1) took a 9-2 lead with 17:50 to play in the first half on a jumpshot by Allie Quigley. They led 45-22 with 2:00 to play in the period after scoring 16 unanswered points, capped by a layup by China Threatt.

Missy Mitidiero added 15 for DePaul, which shot 48 percent from the field compared to 38 percent for Loyola (1-9).

DePaul had 12 turnovers, compared to 27 for Loyola.

Loyola's Marquise Hanser scored 20 points, including consecutive 3-pointers to pull the Ramblers to 79-51 with 7:20 to play. Maggie McCloskey and Jenna Real added 15 apiece.

Chester Felicia grabbed 11 rebounds for DePaul.

DePaul closes out the tournament Thursday against TCU.
