Louisville dominates Florida to remain unbeaten

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Angel McCoughtry had 27 points and 14 rebounds, Jazz Covington added 23 points and Louisville (No. 14 ESPN/USA Today, No. 16 AP) remained unbeaten Thursday with a 77-60 victory against Florida.

The Cardinals (13-0) made the most of their height advantage, outscoring the Gators (5-7) 42-30 in the paint and 19-7 on second-chance opportunities.

Louisville led 39-25 at halftime and extended its advantage to 19 after Covington scored five consecutive points to start the second half.

Florida -- which had its non-conference home winning streak snapped at 16 games -- trimmed a 20-point deficit to 51-40 with about 14 minutes to play. But McCoughtry and Covington helped the Cardinals string together a 9-0 run and then pull away down the stretch.

The Gators closed to 60-48 with 8:30 left, but Louisville responded again. The Cardinals built their lead to 18 points, 74-56, with 3:04 left.

McCoughtry finished with 12-of-21 shooting, and Covington was 10-of-12 from the floor.

Sha Brooks led the Gators with 16 points, and Marshae Dotson added 14 points and 13 rebounds.
