Cal rides free throws, Walker double-double past USC

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Ashley Walker had 17 points and 13 rebounds and California (No. 16 ESPN/USA Today, No. 15 AP) took advantage of its opportunities at the
foul line to beat Southern California 62-53 on Friday.

Devanei Hampton added 13 points and Rama N'diaye scored 11 for the Golden Bears (9-2, 1-1 Pac-10), who made 22-of-31 free throws. USC (6-6, 0-2) shot 9-of-14 from the foul line.

Eshaya Murphy led the Trojans with 17 points and four steals before fouling out but shot just 6-of-21, including 2-of-13 from 3-point range. Chloe Kerr added 10 points and seven rebounds but shot 4-of-13.

The Trojans shot 19-of-64 (29.7 percent) including 6-of-27 from 3-point range, while the Bears were 18-of-44 (40.9 percent) including 4-of-11 from 3-point range

USC committed 23 fouls to 14 for Cal, which led at halftime 28-26.
