SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Kimberly Beck scored 18 points to help George Washington (No. 16 ESPN/USA Today; No. 17 AP) upset Georgia (No. 10 ESPN/USA Today; No. 11 AP) 66-54 in the first round of the Surf 'N Slam Classic on Thursday night.
George Washington (10-2) won its third straight by going on a 12-1 run in the second half against the sloppy Bulldogs (11-2). The Colonials scored 23 points off 24 Georgia turnovers.
Sarah-Jo Lawrence scored 12 points and Kenan Cole 11 for George Washington.
Georgia's Tasha Humphrey had 16 points and eight rebounds before fouling out with 4:05 left. Angel Robinson added 15 points and six rebounds for the Bulldogs.
George Washington has defeated a ranked opponent in five straight seasons. This was their biggest win over a ranked opponent since defeating No. 7 Rutgers 63-58 on Dec. 4, 1999.
George Washington will play San Diego State in the final Saturday. Georgia will play Brown in the consolation game.
