Baylor routs North Carolina A&T for ninth consecutive win

WACO, Texas (AP) -- Kim Mulkey needed less than seven seasons to
become Baylor's winningest women's basketball coach.

Latara Darrett and Latoya Wyatt each scored 13 points to lead
No. 9 Baylor to an 89-40 victory over North Carolina A&T on
Thursday.

Mulkey has posted a 169-46 record with the Lady Bears and led
Baylor to a national championship in 2005. Pam Bowers held the
previous mark with 168 wins over 15 seasons.

"What we've done in a short period of time couldn't have been
done without those players taking a chance on me," Mulkey said.
"We didn't have a tradition to sell so we started building this
program and won a national championship."

Danielle Wilson had 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Bernice Mosby
and Angela Tisdale each scored 11 points for the Lady Bears (12-1)
in their ninth straight victory.

Amber Bland led the Lady Aggies (6-5) with 17 points.

"I wanted to pick my game up and spark the team heading into
conference," Darrett said. "We were very aggressive tonight and
caught them off-guard."

Baylor outscored the Lady Aggies 26-12 to open the second half
and led 70-28 midway through the half. Wyatt's three-point play
capped the offensive outburst.

Baylor dominated inside, scoring 56 points in the paint to the
Lady Aggies' 14. Baylor also scored 39 points off 36 North Carolina
A&T turnovers.

"Not a lot of teams can match up to our speed," Darrett said.
"If we keep pushing up the court, we can beat a lot of teams in
transition."

The Lady Bears went on a 21-2 run in the first half, forging a
30-8 lead. Baylor led 44-16 at the half.
