Starks' 28 points lead Texas A&M to 50-point victory

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) -- Takia Starks scored 28 points to lead Texas A&M (No. 17 ESPN/USA Today, No. 16 AP) to a 93-43 win over Sam Houston State on Friday night.

La Toya Micheaux scored 13 points for the Aggies (9-2). Danielle Gant scored 11 and A'Quonesia Franklin added 11.

Sam Houston State (3-9) committed 37 turnovers, leading to 48 Texas A&M points. Gant had four steals for the Aggies, and Starks and Franklin each had three.

In the first half, the Aggies (9-2) limited Sam Houston State to 15 points and 29 percent field-goal shooting. The Bearkats shot 31 percent for the game and missed all nine 3-pointers.

Texas A&M shot 50 percent from beyond the arc, making 6-of-12.

LaToya Bennett scored eight points for Sam Houston State. Adah Wells and Erica Parker each scored seven. Parker had five rebounds led the Bearkats.
