JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) -- Rudy Sims scored 21 points and Adrianne Davie 19 as Arkansas State defeated New Orleans 68-56 in Sun Belt Conference play Sunday.

Davie struggled from the field, hitting 3-of-14, and had to rely on strong free throw shooting to accumulate points. She ended the game hitting 12-of-17 in free throws. She also grabbed 11 rebounds. Caroline Starr finished with 11 points.

Both Arkansas State (9-4 overall, 3-0 SBC) and UNO (6-9, 0-4) got off to a slow start.

ASU's Ali Carter scored off the layup and Davie hit a couple of free throws. The Lady Indians were ahead 4-2 with 18 minutes to go in the period. A late surge by the Lady Privateers tied the game at 26 by the break.

In the second period, ASU went on a 15-2 scoring binge behind Davie and Sims to give the Lady Indians the lead at 42-33. Arkansas State never trailed after that.

Jada Frazier led the Lady Privateers with 23 points. Talishia Young had 10.
