BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) -- Nubia Garcia scored 16 points on eight of
11 from the field to lead the Montana State women's basketball team
to a 72-63 win over Portland State on Saturday.
Montana State (6-8, 1-1) used an 8-0 run to close out the first
half and take an 36-27 halftime lead.In the second half, the Bobcats built a 56-36 advantage
following an Alyssa Nelson lay-in with 11:21 remaining. Portland
State (4-11, 0-2) cut the margin to 62-52 with 4:36 left on a pair
of Heather Arns free throws.Montana State's Brandie Buckless hit a 3-pointer to push the
lead back to 13 points to secure the win.Also in double digits for Montana State were Buckless with 15
points and Rebecca Mercer with 11. The Bobcats' Alyssa Nelson
recorded a game- and career-high seven steals while adding nine
points, four rebounds and four assists.Portland State was led by Arns with 18 points.
