CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) -- Casey Nash tied a career-high 27 points
and grabbed 13 rebounds, and Mercedes Fox-Griffin tied a school
record with 15 assists Saturday as Oregon State held off a late
Arizona run for a 69-62 win.
Fox-Griffin added 13 points and teammate Judie Lomax had 12
points and six assists for Oregon State (7-8, 2-4 Pac-10), which
Joy Hollingsworth had 17 points and Jessica Arnold added 16 for
Arizona (7-12, 1-6). Nash, the Pac-10's leading scorer with 19.9
points per game, capped an 8-2 Oregon State run to give the Beavers
a 45-35 lead with 13:26 left.
Arizona used an 11-3 run to cut Oregon State's lead to 59-54
with 5:10 remaining. A 3-pointer by Arnold with 1:01 left closed
the gap to 66-62. But the Wildcats didn't score again.
Oregon State overcame a slow start to build a double-digit lead
in the first half. Ashley Allen and Nash scored all of Oregon
State's points in an 11-2 run that put the Beavers ahead 15-4 with
11 minutes remaining.
Arnold scored six points in the final 31 seconds including a
3-pointer at the buzzer as the Wildcats closed the Oregon State
lead to 31-24 at halftime.
Nash had 13 points and nine rebounds in the first 20 minutes.
