WASHINGTON (AP) -- Kenan Cole had a season-high 19 points and George Washington (No. 14 ESPN/USA Today; No. 12 AP) routed Massachusetts 61-48 on Sunday for its 18th consecutive home victory over the Minutewomen.
Jessica Adair added 13 points and nine rebounds for George Washington (14-2, 3-0 Atlantic 10), which has won seven straight. Jazmine Adair (11 points) also scored in double figures for the Colonials. It is just the second time the sisters have scored in double figures in the same game for GW.The victory was coach Joe McKeown's 400th win in 18 seasons at George Washington.Kate Mills scored 17 points for Massachusetts (10-8, 0-3), which dropped its fourth straight game and sixth in seven outings after starting the season 9-2. Tamara Tatham added 13 points for the Minutewomen.Massachusetts led early, but a 10-1 spurt by George Washington midway through the first half propelled the Colonials to a 20-13 lead with 6:16 remaining in the half. The Minutewomen cut the margin to 20-18 with 3:01 remaining on a foul shot by Tatham, before the Colonials rebuilt their lead to 25-20 at halftime.Led by Beck, who hit a pair of 3-pointers in the opening minutes of the second half, George Washington extended its lead to 42-27 with 13:19 remaining. The Colonials' largest lead was 52-35 and came on a pair of free throws by Cole with 7:25 left.With the victory, George Washington ties the best start in school history, 14-2 in 1999-00.
