Humphrey, Georgia send Florida to ninth straight loss

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Tasha Humphrey scored 19 points and Ashley Houts added 16 to help Georgia (No. 15 ESPN/USA Today, No. 14 AP) beat Florida 77-54 on Sunday for the Gators' ninth straight loss.

The Lady Bulldogs (18-4, 5-2 Southeastern Conference) ended the first half with a 9-1 run and led 36-27 at the break. The Lady Gators (6-16, 0-7) trimmed the lead to 53-49 on Marsha Dotson's layup with 9:28 remaining, but Georgia closed the game with a 24-5 spurt.

Florida made just one basket during the run -- Kim Dye's 3-pointer with 6:48 to play.

Dotson led the Lady Gators with 20 points and six rebounds. Depree Bowden had 12 points and 13 rebounds before fouling out in the final minute. Leading scorer Sha Brooks had an off shooting night (2-of-10) and finished with nine points.

Florida was 4-of-20 from 3-point range and finished with 23 turnovers.

Houts added six rebounds, four assists and five steals for Georgia, which was 9-of-20 from behind the arc to complement Humphrey's dominance inside.

Janese Hardrick and Cori Chambers added 11 points apiece for the Bulldogs.
