OXFORD, Miss. -- Marneshia Richard's shot at the buzzer lifted Mississippi State to a 73-71 win over Mississippi (No. 25 ESPN/USA Today, No. 22 AP) on Sunday.
Richard's shot, which was upheld after a video review, came after Ashley Awkward made it 71-71 on a 3-pointer with 6.3 seconds remaining.
It was the first home loss for Mississippi (16-6, 5-2 Southeastern Conference) in 12 games this season.
Mississippi State's Alexis Rack had three of the Bulldogs' nine 3-pointers to finish with 18 points and seven rebounds. Richard scored 15 points for Mississippi State (13-8, 4-3).
Awkward scored 15 of her game-high 19 points during a 30-7 Mississippi second-half run that gave the Rebels a 66-61 lead with 2:35 left. Rack then hit a 3-pointer and converted a 3-point play to put Mississippi State on top 67-66.
After Ole Miss answered, Rack found teammate Bethany Washington to give the Bulldogs a 69-68 lead and then hit two free-throws before Awkward's game-tying 3.
Armintie Price had 13 points and 14 rebounds, while Danetra Forrest and Alliesha Easley each scored 12.
After missing their first seven shots of the game, the Bulldogs shot 47 percent in the first half to take a 35-31 halftime lead. At one point, Mississippi State had hit 21 of 31 shots in building a 54-36 lead with 15:23 remaining in the game.
