MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) -- Chrissy Given scored 23 points as No. 19 Middle Tennessee pulled away in the second half for a 84-57 victory over Louisiana-Lafayette on Sunday.
The Blue Raiders (19-3, 11-0) won their 16th straight game, setting a new school record. The streak is also the third-longest in the nation, pending Maryland's game against North Carolina later Sunday.The Ragin' Cajuns (17-6, 9-3) led for much of the first half after taking a five-point lead just 3 minutes into the game.Middle Tennessee struggled in the first half, shooting just 28.9 percent from the field and 13 percent from 3-point range. However, the Blue Raiders were able to capitalize on the Cajun's 14 first-half turnovers to take a 33-29 at halftime.MTSU came out fast in the second half to take control. The Blue Raiders outscored Louisiana-Lafayette 13-4 in the first four minutes of the half.The Blue Raiders then added a 13-0 run, which included a pair of 3-pointers by Brandi Brown. Brown finished with 15 points.MTSU improved offensively in the second half, shooting 45.9 percent from the field and hitting 9-of-25 from 3-point range.
