No. 11 Baylor holds off late rally from unranked Mizzou

Associated Press

WACO, Texas -- Jhasmin Player scored a season-high 21 points, Bernice Mosby added 17 and Baylor (No. 11 ESPN/USA Today, No. 13 AP) held off Missouri 71-70 on Wednesday night.

Rachel Allison added 10 points for the Lady Bears (19-3, 6-2 Big 12).

EeTisha Riddle paced Missouri (14-7, 2-6) with 26 points. Alyssa Hollins added 19 and Tiffany Brooks 15.

Mosby missed the front end of a one-and-one with 12 seconds left, but the Tigers couldn't capitalize. Brooks rebounded for Missouri and the Tigers worked the ball to Hollins on the right baseline. But her 20-foot jumper with two seconds left caromed short off the rim, and Mosby rebounded for Baylor as time expired.

The Lady Bears led 42-36 with just over 15 minutes left to play. But the Tigers put together a 9-0 run and went in front 45-42 on Riddle's layup with 12½ minutes remaining.

Riddle's 3-point play tied the game at 63-63 at the 3:45 mark. But Baylor went up 70-65 on Jessica Morrow's three-point play with 2:09 remaining, and the Tigers' comeback fell short.

Baylor closed out the first half on a 10-4 run to lead 34-25 at halftime.
