Adair, Lawrence carry George Washington past Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. -- Jessica Adair scored 17 points and Sarah-Jo Lawrence had 15 while grabbing 11 rebounds as George Washington (No. 12 ESPN/USA Today, No. 11 AP) never trailed Saturday in an easy 72-53 win over Richmond.

Kimberly Beck added 16 points and Jazmine Adair had 10 rebounds to help spur the Colonials (19-2, 10-0 Atlantic 10) to their 12th straight victory.

George Washington used 58.6 percent first-half shooting to take a 44-28 halftime lead. The Colonials only shot 35.7 percent in the second period, but the Spiders also shot poorly and couldn't capitalize.

Johanna McKnight led Richmond (10-13, 4-4) with 10 points. Christina Campion and Danielle Bell each had nine as the Spiders could only make 37.5 percent of their shots.

George Washington outrebounded Richmond, 42-31.
