BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) -- Reserve Amber Flynn had 18 points and eight rebounds, Kate Achter added 18 points and Bowling Green (No. 17 ESPN/USA Today; No. 18 AP) held off a late rally to defeat Ball State 86-76 Wednesday night.
Liz Honegger added 17 points and three blocks for the Falcons (21-2, 10-0 Mid-American), and Ali Mann scored 11 of her 15 points on free throws.
Kelsey Corbin scored 27 points and was 9-for-9 on foul shots to lead Ball State (17-4, 8-2). Porchia Green added 24 points, nine rebounds and three steals, and Audrey McDonald had 11 points.
The Falcons took the lead for good with 11:47 left in the first half and stretched it to as many as 18 points in the second. They were up 81-65 with 2:04 left when the Cardinals started chipping away with free throws in an 11-2 run, and Achter fouled out with 1:08 left.
Corbin converted a 3-point play to bring Ball State within seven points with 25 seconds left, but then fouled Mann, who made both foul shots. Carin Horne then stole the ball from Corbin with 17 seconds left.
The Falcons had an 8-0 advantage on fast-break points.
